Corporate Headshot Brief for Business Photography

Here is guidance for capturing photography of employees. The primary objective is to photograph team members and document daily life at your business. I have prepared guidance regarding the treatment of images, locations, attitude and styling to ensure all photos align with your company brand identity.

Production Principles:

The image library will be comprised of several different categories, which are outlined below to establish a visual style that feels cohesive, here are outlined several production principles that transcend any category and should be taken into consideration when photographing your team.

Production Principles: Styling

Clothing and other styling elements should help tell our story, rather than distract the viewer. I recommend that employees wear their normal office attire, ensuring that shoulders are covered (sleeveless or short sleeves are fine). Clothing shouldn display any commercial brand logos.

Production Principles: Color & Light

Color palette conveys expertise, reliability and stability. Images should use neutral and earthy tones that are not overly saturated. In small details, Hunter Green and accent colors, such as Stone, can be incorporated where possible. Lighting should be natural and slightly warm, without any hard shadows or harsh lighting. Images should feel editorial and inviting.

The Company Headshots should be Personable and Authentic, Driven and Empowered Friendly and Open

Business portraits are your opportunity to showcase team members. They should be cropped at the upper torso/ just below the chest with plenty of background visible. The background should be slightly blurred to ensure the focus is on the subject.

Subjects should feel at ease and natural and the photography should feel spontaneous. We want to capture real people with a positive, confident and professional attitude. Avoid overly posed or stiff images.

Collaborative Office Photos show Teamwork Open and engaged Friendly and approachable

This category captures daily moments of collaboration between team members. The main focus of these images should be the people and the interactions between them.Small groups of 2–4 people should be shown with a variety of crops, including full body images. In order to emphasise the subjects, ensure that the background is either blurred or neutral. Subjects should feel open and engaged. We want to capture moments of collaboration that should feel spontaneous but professional.
